SUMMARY:International Masterclass with Cristobal Elgueta
DESCRIPTION:Design\, construction and management of gardens and green spaces in different climatic contexts\nThe workshop offers a training course dedicated to the design\, construction and management of land\, gardens and natural swimming pools in contexts characterised by different geography and climates. The experience gained throughout Chile and abroad\, from the desert areas of the Atacama Desert to the Mediterranean areas of central Chile and the temperate and humid southern Patagonia\, forms the basis for a concrete approach that can be applied to a variety of environmental conditions. \nA central part of the workshop is dedicated to the design and reconstruction of important urban green spaces in the city of Santiago\, with particular attention to the paradigm shift in replacing soil with technical substrates and reformulating the range of plants. This approach allows for the creation of resilient parks that are highly attractive throughout the year\, with a substantial reduction in maintenance requirements and a significant increase in ecological characteristics\, contributing to the renaturalisation of the city and reconnecting users with nature. \nThe workshop takes an in-depth look at the technical aspects of creating a garden\, focusing on managing existing soil and conditioning it to create optimal conditions for subsequent growth\, while minimising maintenance. Maintenance guidelines will also be provided to preserve the soil and promote plant growth and health with minimal effort. \nThe programme includes practical studies applied to both residential gardens and land management in public spaces\, with the aim of transferring operational methodologies that are directly applicable to real-world contexts. A further focus is on plant architecture as a tool for the appropriate selection of plants in different communities\, including those in public spaces\, in order to simplify maintenance and create aesthetically pleasing\, biodiverse plant communities that can tolerate even inadequate maintenance practices. \nTickets available from June 1st \nLanguage: english \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
